Back in Times Museum
A private collection of buildings, equipment, cars and other treasures from the past. Tours by chance, or appointment. Located on State Highway 114 West in Lincoln County.

Band Museum

Community Theater
The Community Theater Museum is the oldest single-screen theater still operating in Arkansas. The museum shows vintage films, hosts a lecture series andhosts "Wednesday Off Main" each week.

Grant County Museum/Heritage Village
Just off State Hwy. 46 South in Sheridan, the museum features a collection of restored buildings, an 11,000-square-foot exhibit and administration building, and displays of Grant County history.

"Keepers of the Spirit" Exhibit
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff houses the permanent exhibit, "Keepers of the Spirit," a tribute to the legacy of former president and chancellor Dr. L.A. Davis, Sr., and AM&N College. Located in the Fine Arts Building on the UAPB campus.

Pioneer Village
Pioneer Village in Rison is home to the Pioneer Crafts Festival. The village is typical of south Arkansas during the late 1880s. Many of the buildings here are listed on the National Register.

Boone-Murphy-Moore House
Private Pine Bluff home was built sometime before 1861 and first located at 702 W. 2nd Ave. This home was Union Col. Powell Clayton's headquarters following the Battle of Pine Bluff in 1863.

Hudson-Grace-Pearson House
The residence of Ben Pearson, the world-famous bow hunter and archer. Built around 1830 by M.E. Hudson, this private home was the one-time home of W.P. Grace, a delegate to the 1861 Secession Convention and chairman of the committee that drew up the ordinance removing Arkansas from the Union. This home was originally a one-story structure and was altered over the years into a two-story house reflecting the details of the French Victorian style.

Jefferson County Courthouse
Partially burned in 1976, the courthouse was rebuilt around the center portion of the 1856 building and re-opened in 1980.

Joslyn-Carder Historic Square
Located in the heart of Star City, the square is home to a replica of the clock tower from the Lincoln County Courthouse razed in 1964. This full-scale model houses the original clockworks and stands in the center of a beautifully landscaped block. Many historic buildings surround the square.

Martha Mitchell Home
The birthplace and later residence of the outspoken wife of former U.S. Attorney General John N. Mitchell in the Nixon administration. Built in 1887, it's at W. 4th and Elm.

Roth-Rosenzwieg-Lambert House
Built around 1894 in the Queen Anne style architecture. At one time America's first cowboy, Broncho Billy Anderson, lived in the house with his sister, Mrs. Roth. Currently the private residence of Representative Henry (Hank) Wilkins.

Trulock-Gould-Mullis House
Built around 1875 by Marshall Trulock in Romanesque Revival style. It is distinguished by its unusual rounded entrance and three windows with their rounded tops on the second floor.

Civil War Sites & Monuments

Jefferson County

Camp White Sulphur Springs Confederate Cemetery
For 137 years the graves of Confederate soldiers who perished from an unknown disease called "swamp fever" while encamped near present day Sulphur Springs were almost forgotten. Today the Confederate Cemetery is both an historical landmark and a showcase for Civil War enthusiasts. As many as 100 soldiers have been identified, and 65 headstones are in place.

The Battle of Pine Bluff
The Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Pine bluff was the site where Union forces under the command of Colonel Powell Clayton repulsed a Confederate attachk led by General John S. Marmaduke. Hastily erected breastworks of cotton bales prevented the recapture of the town on October 25 1863. Pine Bluff remained under Federal control the reaminder of the war.

Jenkins Ferry Historical Monument
Confederate troops attacked General Steele's Union forces at this spot on the Saline River. Park has outdoor exhibits, picnic sites, trails and a launch ramp. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the site is open to the public daily until 10:00 p.m.

Cleveland County

Marks Mill
On this Civil War site, Confederate forces successfully blocked and captured a large Union supply wagon train in fierce fighting. The Confederate victory forced Union Maj. Gen Fred Steele to give up all thoughts of uniting with Union Maj. Gen Nathaniel Banks on the Red River.

The Mount Elba Battlefield
On March 30, 1864, Union forces, led by Colonel Powell Clayton arrived back at Mount Elba to dismantle a Pontoon bridge they had erected earlier. His force was engaged by a strong Confederate force of Slemmon's Brigade at this historic site near Rison.
